YoPro is proud to wrap this year’s YoPro Talks series entitled Blaze Your Professional Trail. Our goal was to offer a range of fresh and empowering talks filled with tips and tricks to pack in your bag that you can use when summiting an exciting new peak or taking another lap along the same familiar route in your career journey.
To start the year off at the right trailhead in March, Kellie May from CET/ThinkTV moderated a conversation between two system leaders who shared their experiences switching roles (more than once) at their station. This casual conversation with Natasha Padilla formerly with the WNET Group and Lauren Komrosky at Connecticut Public gave attendees advice on how to prepare for tricky conversations, deal with setbacks and stay on good terms with your former team.
In May, YoPro convened at Annual Meeting 2022 where YoPro’s had the opportunity to meet up, build new relationships, and expand their public media network. At this Meetup, YoPros heard from Jim Dunford, Sr. Vice President of Station Services and participated in one of four breakout conversations. Those conversations included the following topics: career resilience, managing effective team meetings, using effective team communication, and switching paths in your public media career.
After picking a new peak to summit, we didn’t want to go forth alone in August and began looking for trail buddies to help us along our career journey. In this YoPro Talks, an overview of the various PBS Councils and Committees was provided with explanations for how to get involved, as well as an opportunity to talk with representatives.
After summiting the new peak and venturing back down, it became clear that we needed to rest and relax before going forward. In September, Crystal Chavis from PBS led a session on Career Resilience and shared resources for developing positivity, emotional insight, and balance to gain a sense of control over your daily work life.
YoPro is excited to close out 2022 with YoPro Gather, a networking event designed to foster connection through 1:1 and small group networking and an entertaining round of PBS trivia. During this event, attendees will hear messages from public media professionals that will provide an insightful end to our 2022 journey together.
